Discover the ancient history and breathtaking beauty of Tzia island on a day cruise from Athens. Explore the archaeological site of Ancient Karthea, relax at Karthaia – Poles beach, and enjoy lunch in Korissia. Then, sail to Cape Sounion to visit the majestic Temple of Poseidon. Relax with drinks and snacks onboard while admiring the stunning Aegean Sea and Temple views.

Proposed Itinerary

  • Depart from Athens and, following a one-and-a-half-hour cruise in the beautiful Aegean, arrive at Tzia island. Anchor at the Karthaia – Poles beach, two beaches separated by the Ancient Karthaia hill. The two bays share crystal clear waters, sand and pebbles and are accessible only through boat or a steep trail. Perched above the bay lies the archaeological site of Ancient Karthea, the most significant of the four city-states of Kea in antiquity. To visit this historic site, you’ll need to hike a rewarding route, which offers not only historical insight but also breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.
  • After the morning adventures, we dock in Korissia the islands main port ideal for walks and lunch at the seaside in the fine Greek cuisine restaurants.
  • After a leasure walk in Tzia’s town, we set sail for Cape Sounion and more specifically the Temple of Poseidon at the southernmost tip of the Attica peninsula. This Doric temple, a major aspect of Greek Mythology, was erected during the Golden Age of Pericles and was devoted to Poseidon, the Olympian God of the Sea and is one of the greatest tourist attractions in the area. We will drop anchor under the majestic temple with a clear view of the Aegean Sea and the awe-inspiring Cape, creating a majestic scenery and for approximately two hours have an afternoon swim or enjoy the drinks and snacks served onboard.
