Immerse yourself in Greek mythology as you will admire the majestic temple of Poseidon – the god of the sea – overlooking the Aegean Sea in Cape Sounion.

Proposed Itinerary

  • Depart from Athens and, following a one-and-a-half-hour cruise in the beautiful Aegean, arrive at Kythnos island. Anchor at the remarkable Colona beach, considered one of the most spectacular beaches in Greece. It is essentially a narrow strip of land that connects Kythnos to the islet of Agios Loukas. The fine, golden sand and the sea lapping at both of its sides create a magnificent scene.
  • After the morning swim, we dock in the Merichas port, a small seaside village and the main port of the island. The port has kept its traditional appearance throughout the years and hosts many fine restaurants perfect for a Mediteranean lunch. A walk to the nearby site of Vryokatsro, the ancient capital of the island, inhabited until the 7th century A.D, with ruins of walls, temples, altars and Roman buildings is a must.
  • Then, we cruise to the northwestern part of the island in Koundouros beach for an afternoon swim and unwind. The scenery is very picturesque, with restored stone mills being the highlight. Its protection from the winds create a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for ejoying a drink onboard.
  • On the journey back to Athens, we make the mandatory stop to the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion, the southernmost tip of the Attica peninsula. This Doric temple, a major aspect of Greek Mythology, was erected during the Golden Age of Pericles and was devoted to Poseidon, the Olympian God of the Sea. We will drop anchor under the majestic temple with a clear view of the Aegean Sea and the awe-inspiring Cape, creating a majestic scenery.
